Hilton Garden Inn Carlsbad Beach

First slap in the face: $29 per night to park. What? There is absolutely no other place to park besides this parking lot, unless you want to schlep about a half mile. Ridiculous. What? $3 to drink the bottle of water in the room? This has the name Hilton, but the ridiculous nickel and diming is absurd, especially with the premium price tag in the first place. Oh, and the industrial air conditioner was right on top of my room...... and I couldn't shut off my light in the bathroom because the switch was broken. They could get to it the next day.... Won't be back.

Restaurant was closed and set up makeshift restaurant in an event room.

Location is fantastic! Ocean directly across the road with a gorgeous sunset vantage point. Nice walking trail area along the bluffs. Easy drive (10 minutes) to Carlsbad village with many restaurant choices. The on site restaurant was undergoing renovation so choices and ambiance in the ballroom alternative were not that appealing, but we brought food for breakfast and snacks and planned to eat out in the village otherwise anyway. The room was quiet and temperature controls worked fantastically. Bed was comfortable. A couple of oddities were that trash baskets in the room did not have liners, so we used the dry cleaner bags because of the food containers we brought. The shower was great and had nice liquid shampoo,.conditioner and body gel but the had soap for the sink was the smallest thing I’ve ever seen…about the size of a quarter and almost as thin. Staff were all pleasant and helpful. Hallways had a bit of a mildew smell not noticeable in the room.

Coffee was horrible.

The room was spacious and clean. The staff were kind and helpful. One elevator was broken. The kitchen/dining area is being redone so we weren't able to enjoy that part. Parking was $29/night. Overall, very convenient location and walking distance to the beach cliffs. Would definitely stay again after the updates are completed.

The room is clean. The only concern is that the sound of the next room can be heard.

The room was clean and the bed comfortable. We especially liked the early pool and Jacuzzi hour and the pool area was quiet and beautiful.

Low water pressure, broken soap dispenser, no shower curtain, dirty floors when we got there. Staff was great but everything else wasn’t.

Stay was decent overall with location convenient to local beaches and Carlsbad Village. Nice pool and jacuzzi. Room service and housekeeping daily was attentive. Our specific room met most of our needs but unfortunately it had an unusual musty smell. The AC vent also was quite rusty. Maybe this specific Hilton is a little dated. Almost little to no hooks in the bathroom to hang towels or clothes. Thankfully there were plenty of hangers to use. Never understood why hotels charge separate for daily parking fee, as if there is an option to opt out and park elsewhere. $29 dollars seems to be a little steep for daily parking fee. Parking fee should just be built into the daily room rate.

Beautiful location just looking out over the ocean. Nice, friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were clean and spacious.
