Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Charlotte Uptown

We traveled down to Charlotte to be closer to hospital that my son was having major surgery at. The staff was super friendly and upon hearing about the surgery offered him a complimentary snack from the snack market, a small gesture that went a long way in helping clam his anxiety. It was an amazing experience, the room was very clean and quite. The pool and restaurant looked awesome, although we did not personally partake in either. There was a complimentary breakfast but due to his surgery time we had to depart before it was ready.

But...the hotel had AC problems. There was a rented portable AC unit in the restaurant area. Our room cycled between freezing and terribly hot all night. We did not sleep for that reason. Every 20-30 minutes you had to put on covers or take them off. And, we ate at the hotel restaurant. After we had eaten, there was a giant cockroach on the wall behind us. Staff said it was "Palmetto bug," and that those come in where there is a gap in the wall. They got bug spray to kill it and closed that area, but we noticed that the bug spray was kept at the bar right next to the mixers. It seemed like not a great idea to have it right there. At any rate, we skipped the free breakfast for these reasons. We probably wouldn't stay here again due to the AC and roach/bug spray issues. But the staff was super nice.

Staff was great and very helpful. Breakfast was great and the lady there was great at her job and very friendly.

The location is great with many walkable sites. Close proximity to shopping and downtown. I didn't like having to pay $30.00 a day for parking. Also the air conditioner above me dripping water all night and the noise from highway.

Toe nail clippings in our room. Switched to another run down room with horrible uncomfortable beds. Over priced room would not stay here again or recommend it. They also ran out of co for drinks

The staff was amazing, especially Erin and the other young man that checked us in. They were warm and welcoming and started our trip out perfectly!

They charged guest $30.00 a night to park on the property downtown. They said the 3rd party should have informed us. Not again

This hotel is an affordable option for a hotel in Charlotte. $30 per night parking is a bit much. The staff at the front desk are very friendly. The beds in our room were not comfortable. Not a big deal, but the ice bucket did not have a bag for ice and there was only one small trash can - which was in the bathroom. You do have to request your room to be cleaned if you want fresh towels, the trash emptied, etc.

Loved it all - meals, comfort! Bathroom could use a little caulk or paint.

Room was a little over priced
