hoping next time i make the drive up to estes park construction will be near done & that kore areas in the main original stanley hotel will be open to public- having 3/4 of the rooms made for a slightly disappointing experience considering how much it costs to stay there. regardless, i took my mom here after talking about it for the last 10 years & we still had such a great time!

Would have been nice to know there is major construction going on before we booked. Also no warning that the loud noise would start at 7 am. Staff at the bar restaurant were great , but I would not book here again until the construction is done.

The bar was amazing! Drinks were delicious!

First of all, there is MAJOR construction in progress and everything is impacted; traffic, noise, parking etc... It was very difficult to find parking just to check in for our room plus no signs as to where to check in. Thus, it was quite a challenge just to find the check in counter. Then came the surprise that our room wasn’t actually in the Stanley Hotel, but instead in their “new” 2016 built Aspire building, a quarter mile away down hill from the Stanley Hotel. We had last previously stayed at The Stanley Hotel 30 years ago and longed to remember taking the antiquated elevator. Instead we stayed at the equivalent of a Fairfield Inn downhill from the historic buildings. Our room was a big disappointment too, it smelled of sewer backed up and we had to open the windows to get fresh air since the thermostat for air conditioning was not user friendly at all. The windows have a safety latch that nearly cut off a portion of my finger just trying to raise the window. The room was barely big enough for the bed and there was nowhere just to sit down unless you considered the toilet a seat; the only option was to just sit on the bed. The “do not disturb” button to activate the outside-the-door light did not work. When we checked out the next morning, we were given another surprise of an unannounced special charge for “construction surcharge”, we only thought we had paid for the entire stay via Expedia. We travel a lot and prefer staying at Marriott properties, sadly none here

Hotel is under renovation. Room should not of been booked. Construction was outside our door and started at 7:30am. Poor housekeeping and hotel was dirty. Great potential but hotel should be shut down while being renovated.

The Stanley itself was beautiful especially while driving up to it. The rooms were small, hot and you could not regulate the temperature, and the construction was terrible (loud, early 6:30, with a lot of loud cursing). Restaurants were good, pricey and hard to get reservations to. Went to the bar at the hotel-Chris was excellent! Close to RMNP. Cool history. Did the ghost tour.

Whiskey bar is excellent.

Beautiful facade and view on the outside but the accomodation is another story. I expected a pleasant experience because paying $600++ / day was quite above the usual rate of equally nice hotels in Europe or elsewhere with more captivating and historical stories. Personal observations: Pros: 1. Staff were very nice (because some were new to the job and from other countries) 2. Very good food Cons: 1. Rooms will not be cleaned nor bed be made if staying for only 2 days 2. Internet was not working at all 3. Furniture is scuffed and outdated 4. No chair to sit on 5. No drinking water (you have to buy at the coffee shop) 6. No fridge 7. Plastic cups (expensive hotels use real glass) 8. Very poor amenities 9. Only one side of the bed has a side table 10. No AC 11. Creaky doors that doesn’t fit thus will make a loud bang when forced to closed

The Stanley Amusement Park......it's more than just a hotel....the hotel sells it's overnight guests (paying hundreds of dollars a night) parking spots for $10 to any random dipwad off the street. So after an 8 mile day hike in RMNP we came back to no parking. Ridiculous..... would not stay here again.

Amenities (gym and pool) were at the separate building, and you have to pay fees to get it

With that being said , Yes.. there’s a lot construction but it didn’t bother us .. The main hotel is different ( to me ) it’s kinda dirty .. stains on carpet etc the front of the hotel used to be all open .. Now , half of it is blocked with tables spilling over from the “ Wine Room “. The other side has futons. Most have stains etc .. The back of the Cascades use to have an open fire pit & a lot of area to walk around , plus a lot more buildings. This area is no longer .. it’s all closed .. There is limited space to sit or walk around There is a maze and a little patio area but no seats If you are going for the Vibe , Spooky Season etc you will enjoy. If your spending more time in your room then this may not be the place for you .

Nice clean room. Cold shower and no water pressure. A fridge would be nice.

The property is undergoing renovations, so parking was complicated. We had a very nice and comfy room. We enjoyed drinks and dinner in the Cascades Restaurant. Unfortunately it was a quick visit so we didn’t get to explore the property more.

We stayed 6 days in room 424 which was probably about 4 days too many to be honest. The room wasn't very clean the dust on the ceiling fan had my allergies killing me. Theres a Crack in the window sill that always has the window open and a stain of a cup on the window sill from previous people. We did the ghost tour and Bogdan was AMAZING. We also did the Shining tour and it was okay. Not seeing room 217 due to them hosting out of it kinda bummed me out but totally made sense. The walls are paper thin so hearing our neighbor loudly exclaiming about their Lexapro was annoying. The parking lot is a disaster. If I'm staying in the hotel guests should have right away to concrete parking NOT the overflow parking lot. Tours should be told to park immediately in overflow till construction is done having to lug our baggage all the way up was disheartening along with wanting to stop doing whatever we were doing to go back and fight for parking. Overall okay to visit maybe not to stay. Also the piano bar is amazing and the lady bartender in there with the amazing make up gave me the best wine options we went back three times just because of her. The employees make the stanley visit worthwhile for sure.

My only complaint was that the parking situation was not ideal and loads of construction around the hotel that did not allow us to access and enjoy all the amenities they had to offer. The rose garden was half blocked off; we did not even get to view the pool area. In addition, there were cranes obstructing our mountain view from our room and we were awakened by construction noise in the morning during our stay. Also, when booking through Expedia, I was under the impression I booked a room in the hotel but later discovered that Expedia booked our room in the lodge. I thought that this was a little deceiving considering the room I booked stated Stanley Hotel and then details revealed Lodge.

Lots of construction but still had fun. Excited to see what it all looks like finished up! The wine bar is absolutely amazing. The staff in the wine bar is even better, kind, thoughtful and very knowledgeable. We had so much fun

There is one elevator in the main hotel that holds a limited amount of guests and luggage. Make sure you’re not in a hurry if using. We wanted to sit down at the wine bar. There was a sign up that said please wait to be seated and nobody seating guests. The bartender was working, was busy, and couldn’t have feasibly done two jobs at once. We ended up going over to the Cascades restaurant and sitting at the bar. The room was clean and very small. The ceiling was very low on one side. My husband couldn’t walk on that side of the bed or he would have hit his head. Overall disappointed with our stay at the main/original hotel. The outside of the main building looks impressive as does the lobby. However, I would recommend visiting the grounds (being wary of the construction) and staying overnight elsewhere.

The room was clean. That’s the good. There is construction going on, so we had to park in the overflow lot which was a challenge at night as it was dark and uneven. We stayed in The Lodge, and there was a mess of chairs in the lounge, looked like someone threw them in and left. There was no ice readily available. Historic property, and I would rank it as mediocre.

The hotel is old. It’s clean but just old. If you expect something modern, this isn’t the one. We liked the location, it’s easy to get to Rocky Mountains. The restaurants in the hotels are pricing. It’s probably better to go to the town for dinner.
