Beautiful early nineteenth century hotel in central Hartford. Updated keeping its charm.

Exceptional

Very fashionable hotel in a good location. The mattresses and the pillows were not great. The refrigerator didn’t work. We asked for hangers and did not receive them. The Bell staff and valet staff were excellent. Breakfast buffet was OK. There is a bar on site with minimal food options. No true restaurant on site.

Always a nice place to stay close to Trinity College to watch football games.

Wonderful service, nice decor, nice bar. The room was beautifully quiet! “Breakfast” not great, but very happy with everything else. The Valets were so nice and so efficient!

I was very surprised by the behavior of management at the location we arrived a bit early and kindly asked if there was a room available since we had traveled for quite sometime; they said no because the location had a contract with the pilots and we would have to wait until regular check in at 3pm. That is understandable however knowing our situation they still made us wait until 3:45 waiting in the lobby for over three hours. We watched as other guest arrived and were checked in and given rooms quickly. I was very surprised that they were unable to accommodate our situation nor have the room available at 3pm. The valet guys were excellent though very helpful and considerate. I would not recommend this place at all for the amount of money it cost I am still at a loss for words with the attitude of the manager.

Nicest hotel!! Worth it!

Cleanliness was good, except not sure why but two nights in a row, they only made up one of the beds and left the other one completely undone. I had a two queen bed room, very spacious. I called the front desk to let them know, they apologized, but the next night the same thing happened and it was the other bed. I let the front desk know again, and I even asked if this is a Goodwin "troll" or something! A friend had this happen to her as well in the past when she stayed there. They assured me it is not, so it is very confusing.

Arrived around 8 pm to hotel. Guy at the reception was helpful and told me that he could see in the system I had asked for the extra bed included in the room. That it should be ready. Had written 2 days in advance for the extra bed to be made. Stayed in one of their suites. Extra bed was not there It was unclear if the sofa in the room was a a sofa bed or not. When I called the front desk they apologized and told me they would send someone from housekeeping. 1 hour later someone from valet car services comes to the room to let me know there is no one from housekeeping. Tells me there is a sofa bed in room. Tells me everything needed is in the closet. Offcourse there were no pillows or comforters in the closet. After another hour sheets were changed and a pillow was brought. Room was banged up. Floors were sticky. Personnel did all they could in all fairness.

Went to check in and they said the tv in the room didn’t work but they didn’t have any other rooms, felt stuck so I checked in, signed into WiFi and it asked for review, I said it was weird they didn’t offer anything for broken tv, they called right away and said we messed up but were giving you 25% discount when manager returns, checked out in morning and of course no discount on bill, “will be fixed when manager returns” never any follow up. Had reservations for later in the year that we’re canceling, they advertise like they are a luxury hotel, they are not.

The hotel is excellent. The location, unfortunately, is not. Hartford is not exactly a place to hang out in, and after work is done, the city seems to shut down. There's not much to do except attend a basketball game, which is what we were there for, but the hotel itself has everything you need. Honestly, if you need to stay the night in Hartford, I would recommend the Goodwin because you literally don't need to leave since it has everything.

Location was convent and the building was beautiful Staff was just okay. Sheets were scratchy. And the hot water was intermittent. Terrible breakfast, if you could even call it that.

The room was adequate. The shower water pressure was fair and there was no makeup mirror in the bathroom. The service here is terrible. There were no hangars in my room and it took 2 phone calls and 45 minutes for someone to give me some. The breakfast is mostly bagels, cereal and yogurt. They say it goes from 7 to 11 but when I came down at 9:15 there were no bagels. I waited 10 minutes after requesting them and left. I came back at 10 and now there were bagels but no coffee. This is not a cheap property and for the money it should give better service. This is not rocket science. This hotel is poorly run and definitely overpriced.

Breakfast we were told had just been upgraded. For the cost of the room the Breakfast grab and go prepackaged options didn't fit.

The hotel is definitely a boutique property, although it did give off a little bit of a The Shining vibe—probably more because of the style and atmosphere than anything else. That said, it was nicely modernized, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The valets were excellent and very helpful. If you’re not using the valet service, though, parking is not particularly convenient and there aren’t many good options. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, with friendly staff and a unique atmosphere.
