Fairfield Inn & Suites Waco South

We booked this hotel after calling to confirm they had a functional indoor pool. It was the ONLY reason we stayed here. Turns out, depending on who we asked it's been down anywhere from a couple of days to weeks due to issues from chemicals to a bad pump. Very let down over this. Also the mattress was awful. The TV in the room hardly worked because the remote was giving up the ghost. I was very let down after having generally gif experiences with Fairfields across the country.

The bed sheets were soiled and I had to change them myself. The card key would not let me in because they did not check me in correctly. Bathroom water dripping all night. Worst experience ever.

Two things to note and the reason for my 4 star rating for the facility aspect: 1. Plumbing issues: The tub faucet leaked at the handle and the sink faucet was plumbed backwards. When you thought you were turning on the cold water in the sink, out came hot water, and vice versa. These are not deal breakers, just annoyances that need the attention of a plumber. 2. The fragrance/perfume that greeted you at the door and in the lobby was not unpleasant, just overpowering. The fragrance must come from some cleaning product. A member of our family has sensitivity to strong perfumes and was bothered by this, but was not debilitated by it since she was not in the environment very long.

Helpful staff, decent breakfast, free parking Pool was closed, with 2 kids in August, that was a real problem for us that was not communicated prior to arrival. The room looked and felt tired. Requested extra pillows when I checked in but there was none when received the room. Reservation was for 4, but only 2 bath towels were there at check in. The pull out sofa was extremely uncomfortable.

This is not a safe place for women traveling alone. Lots of men loitering; the hotel room stank; loud noises coming from rooms. Needless to say, I didn't stay and went somewhere else. Expedia should rate this hotel accordingly.

I had car trouble and was told Monday to get car back so made reservations for Friday through Monday we had been at an airbnb but had to leave there. Car got fixed on Friday so asked to cancel told no. I thought they might take at least one day off.

Came in early Friday morning and they were very good to find us a room right away so we didn't have to sit in lobby all day. Clean and great location Only negative - renovations were ongoing near our room. The halls smelled of fresh paint (a little stinky) and it was a little messy. However they clearly were doing all they could to keep it neat and safe.
