Coast Inn at Lake Hood
About Coast Inn at Lake Hood
Coast Inn at Lake Hood, is a short walk away to watch float planes take on and off from one of the busiest seaplane bases in the world. In the winter the frozen lake serves as a frozen runway for planes with skis. Befitting to its location the hotel is decorated in Alaska Bush Pilot memorabilia and historic photography that the Alaska Aviation Museum next door shares with them. Each guest room is carefully cared for by our veteran housekeeping team, most of which have been with us 5 years and some up to 20 years. Each room has everything you need like Keurig Coffee machines with locally owned Caffé D'arte Alaska coffee, to in-room microwave and mini-refrigerator. If you have forgotten something, our front desk probably has it. We keep a fresh supply of basic toiletries available for you. Dine-in at locally owned and operated for 30 plus years, Pipers Restaurant and Lounge, or order room service. We have monthly specials that coincide with the season, Alaskan local favorites, and traditional native food. In the summer the deck is open and overlooks Lake Hood, where you can watch the planes land and take off right in front of you. The hotel has everything you need; from the fitness center, laundry machines, complimentary wi-fi, over 6,000 square feet of meeting space, computer stations for printing boarding passes, and the most needed on-demand courtesy airport shuttle available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, no reservation required. If you need to park and fly out, our partner Alaska Park is next door ready to serve you, and is who handles our courtesy shuttle.

Clean room great staff

From the time I walked off the shuttle bus I was disappointed. The property is outdated and expensive for what you get.

The price for the room was too high compared to the overall quantity of the hotel

Great room

The property is at a great location to airport. The price was fair. The rooms and property are older dated but clean. Bar/Restaurant was right at location so that’s convenient and the food was Yummy!

good place to stay to catch a flight

It is a very old hotel. The rooms are smelly and there are no elevators. It does not look like the pictures. Most importantly, if you plan to use the shuttle, don't. We chose this hotel because of the airport shuttle option. The night before our early morning flight, we asked at the front desk about the shuttle, and they told us to give them 15 minutes' notice so the shuttle could take us to our flight on time. That is exactly what we did the next morning; we were all ready and asked them to call the shuttle for us, then went to wake up our little one. Ten minutes later, we were ready in the lobby with all of our luggage and our son. The lady at the front desk informed us that the shuttle drivers were exchanging shifts and that we would have to wait at least 30 minutes, not to mention how impatient and rude she was. Given the time of our flight, we ended up paying for an UberXL to take us to the airport.

Location is very convenient .There’s a shuttle to bring us back to the airport and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Wasn’t much for the price. The second most expensive hotel for our three week trip. Not the best way to end the trip but we needed the location Cleanliness of the overall motel. Better food choice in the restaurant. Had kids with us so took it all back to the room which was problematic for them eating

The property was no where near what was advertised. Front desk refused to get off their phones. We went without rather than deal with the staff. Much easier. Never again, sadly. Over 350 a night. No TV, dirty fridge, no freezer. Bad smelling. Don’t stay here.

Superb

Staff when we arrived not very pleasant and not helpful when we asked for assistance with getting our luggage upstairs. No elevator. We drug them up ourselves. Rooms were fine. Place is dated, but close to airport and pretty clean. Restaurant had a good breakfast.

Nice place to stay in anchorage.
-
Been a few years since staying there. Rooms have been refurbished and nice. Bathroom smelled stinky/ musty and shower drain was almost plugged. Staff nice and food was good. Expensive one night stay in september for a room that was not that impressive.

Wait staff in restaurant at breakfast. Nothing…
-
Great location near the airport. Facilities clean and comfortable. Hotel shuttle may as well not exist. Called front desk 6 times from the airport to request shuttle. Was told to look for a white van (it turned out to be a dark gray van). After almost an hour of waiting at the airport, I just took a taxi. On return had to wait 20 min. in hotel lobby for shuttle to show up to take me to the airport. Front desk staff apathetic and mostly unhelpful. Alaska high season rates are exorbitant for a basic airport hotel.

Great location with a pretty good restaurant/bar and workout room. 24 hour airport shuttle. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It’s older, but clean and comfortable.
