The Umstead Hotel and Spa

Everything and everyone was outstanding!

Our stay was absolutely incredible. Staff were extremely approachable from the moment you enter, and the property was well maintained. We will be staying again when traveling!

Plenty of people enjoying the public spaces but never a feeling of being too much. Service rivals none, and we have been fortunate to stay in many wonderful settings as we travel. Very much worth the planning ahead to enjoy all that the Umstead has to offer.

We celebrated my wife’s birthday for the fourth year in row at The Umstead. The staff were so welcoming and friendly and treated us so well. My wife felt so special and the spa was perfect. I can’t recommend The Umstead enough.

Surprisingly we had a noisy stay. Our room apparently was next to a space hotel staff entered frequently throughout our stay. We could hear doors closing and details of conversations. Spa services were good but no better than other spa services at franchise chains. Nice hotel but overpriced for the experience.

My wife’s and I stay here was excellent. We only wish we would have been able to eat at their premier restaurant Herons. Unfortunately, it was not open on Sundays and Mondays for dinner. Overall this is a great facility with exceptional customer service. Highly recommend.

Reception staff excellent. Modern amenities, clean room.

1) I was a single traveler, and I asked to eat breakfast at one of the outside tables. I was told they were "already taken." They were not. Most of them remained empty while I ate inside. 2) They played loud music at an event, which came all the way up through the bedrooms. No one needs to hear that in a luxury hotel. 3) They had a beautiful gift shop, but all the women's clothing sizes were XS and Small. When we asked why, one of the staffers told us that "The buyer doesn't believe in larger sizes." Are you KIDDING me? And who does he/she think she is? Nevertheless, the hotel is gorgeous.

Food was great , first class. Herons restaurant has 5 Forbes stars and they deserve it . Sauna was great. It is very difficult to get facial , body treatments because they are booked. Still we were able to get one treatment because there was cancelation.

Amazing service, clean hotel, it’s like it’s own little town. Restaurant was great as well. We will be returning. We also loved all the amenities they had to offer.
