The property is in desperate need of renovation and cleaning. It’s clear the hotel structure and the rooms aren’t well maintained. The room cleanliness was technically fine but not quality you’d hope or expect from a DoubleTree/Hilton property. Everything is showing wear and tear and the sinks and shower didnt really drain well. I wouldn’t not stay here again nor recommend it to others.

The restaurant was mediocre, not bad but not great. People who like comfort food will probably like it. The service at the hotel was great. I have two main gripes about this hotel that will prevent me from coming back. #1. Parking is unnecessarily expensive. This is a small town in Hawaii, not Boston or Los Angeles. You don't need to charge your guests to park onsite. Do have a system to make sure only guests park there, and maybe charge others if there is demand, but it's unfair and weird to de-incentivize people to park onsite. Everyone is going to have a car, you can't do anything in Hawaii without a car. It's not NYC. I went to another hotel after this in Kauai, and they had *free valet.* #2. The bathrooms were open. Now I don't know if this is true in all the rooms, there was another building and we didn't stay long enough to try requesting another room, but there's a large window on one side of the bathroom looking into the bedroom. So anyone standing in the middle of the bedroom can look in at someone using the toilet or showering. It's a horrible setup. I bet they think people want to look at the ocean when showering or something. No, we can see the ocean afterwards, we just want to use the bathroom in peace. Oh and also the door didn't lock.

The air conditioner dripped all night. Self parking lot was full of puddles. You're charged a fee for golf whether you play or not. Elevators were slow. Probably would not stay here in the future.

The rooms were very comfortable and the staff friendly. I’d recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Hilo. The view of Hilo bay was spectacular !

The air vent was right beside my head in bed and loud.. everytime it turned on or off it woke me up. I didnt get any rest.

I was just here for a short stay solo. Very helpful and polite staff. Great restraunt and food. Room was a bit tired. It needed paint, and a some small finish items were damaged or broken (including the security lock on the door). A little noisy due to location near stairwell and door undercut with no sweeps installed. Overall I enjoyed the property, staff, food, and location. I would recommend a stay for families and or those looking for solid mid tier accommodations.

Could be better kept but i understand the complications of fewer travelers and it being near the ocean.

Our room unfortunately has little ants crawling around in the bathtub and bar area. Our carpet was also stained. The restaurant was good and had happy hour. We definitely utilized the complementary drinks. Staff and valet were very helpful. The gift shop was closed due to construction or something.

The tub stopper didnt work and could only take a shower and the sliding bathroom door wouldnt close leaving zero privacy.

The room was clean and the staff was nice. Nothing in particular to write home about. The balcony door was difficult to open & close. There's something mechanical - what I assume to be the AC unit - enclosed in the bathroom. It was very loud and made sleeping and enjoying the overall atmosphere very difficult. The spa is woefully understaffed. There was only one person working when I was there. I booked massages and facials for me & my partner. My partner's entire reservation had to be canceled because there was only 1 masseuse and my facial was canceled because there was no esthetician. The restaurant was also just OK. Went for breakfast one day and it was alright. Unsure about dinner. They have valet & self-parking options. Self-parking is in an unpaved lot across the street. A little annoying, but manageable. Overall, if you're looking for a no frills hotel and a basic place to just lay your head and store your belongings, this may be the place for you.

The staff was incredibly caring and accommodating. The property could benefit from a bit of refreshing to enhance its charm. The food was simple, but the drinks were undeniably delightful. The room was spotless, and the view was breathtakingly surreal.

Cockroaches are in the room.

The whole hotel is dated and needs a facelift. First room had stains on carpet near window so likely leaks when it rains. There was a screw hanging out of cabinet in bathroom. Tissue holder was empty. And bonus, room had a gecko scurrying around so we changed rooms. 2nd room seemed more clean but the shower hose sprayed everywhere and toilet paper holder was loose. Maintenance responded quickly to all issues. The morning we were packing up to leave there were several bugs in bath area. There were just too many issues. I would not recommend this hotel, and I wouldn't stay there again.

Easy to find and room was clean once I checked in

Careful if you are a Hilton Honors member booking through any aggregator. You will loose all Hilton points and not be given any Hilton perks. We did not get the room we asked for and charged extra for parking. Beware!

The staff were ok

It was a bit disappointing. Only one elevator working all 5 days we were there and we were on the 11th floor. Parking was not close enough to the hotel. We didn’t feel valued as a guest like we normally do at other Hilton brands.
