Holiday Inn Express & Suites Houston North Intercontinental by IHG

I selected the hotel due to having an overnight stop in Houston and being close to the airport and the fact that there was a shuttle operating. Sadly, upon arriving (Internationally - 13hr flight), and after question several other shuttle drivers, I was advised that I had to call the hotel to arrange pickup however due to recent storms all external communications were down resulting in having to pay for a taxi to hotel. Experience could have been improved through ability of pre-arranging pickup time, or by adding post to Hotel website/Facebook page advising of the issue. Staff were polite and apologetic. A rare event I'm sure, however I'm equally sure that traveller experience could have been improved.

Absolute worst experience ever. Drove 1000 miles only to show up at 2am and find out my room was cancelled. The guy on duty made no effort to help and had a "DGAF" attitude. Had to scramble to find somewhere to stay.

I’ve stated many of these hotels across the nation and I will never do that again without reading the reviews. This place was horrible.

I asked if there was operational pool They said its not working. And i was told we’ll cancel your reservation without any fees and upon reaching expedia about it. They mentioned that there is no response from the property. Very bad experience and response.

They were able to check me in an hour early. The room was clean. The breakfast was good. The staff was nice. Using the airport shuttle was easy and convenient. There were also some nice food options around.

The pool water always had stuff floating in it and we had roaches in our room.

Hotel phone did not work, so it was impossible to call for the shuttle. We wound up having not take rideshares from the airport. If you are expecting to make use of the shuttle, think otherwise.

Front desk staff was not helpfull at all, the manager was lying for the front desk staff, no bottled water available in the hotel. When we asked for hand soap they said housekeeping left for the day and its not available, I asked do I have to go buy my own soap and they responded that would be preferred. Then I asked to talk to the manager thats when they said you can come get the soap from the front desk, and at the front desk the so called manager denied that the staff said to go buy our own soap, completly lying to my face. No iron the room, had to go get it from the front desk. Had to stay because they refused to give our money back. Breakfast was terrible the toaster was not working had to hold it down. Don't waste your money here. Very disappointed!

Cons: The hotel advertised shuttle to/from airport, pool, hot tub, and breakfast. When we arrived at the airport, we called multiple times for pickup and the phone line wasn't working. We had to take an Uber to the hotel. We were requesting a credit, but we needed a late checkout so that balanced out. Upon trying to go the pool, it was dirty with bugs, leaves, and debris. We had to ask several times for it to be cleaned to be usable. The hot tub jets were not working, so there was no bubbles. I understand that keeping an outside pool clean is difficult, but it can be better managed by the staff.
