Loved it! Great traditional Hawaiian feel

My FIRST time ever to Hawaii! I had to see this place not just for its location on Kaanapali Beach, but that it was recommended by Great Value Vacations. Quite the drive from the airport, and it was tricky to park as the garage has narrow spaces, but I loved my first hotel in the Aloha State! The food, the beach, the staff, the sunsets, and the rooms lived up to all my expectations.

Location was very nice and the farewell ceremony is very nice. We had no electricity for 1 day and I couldn't understand how a Resort such as Outrigger doesn't have a generator. No help whatsoever from resort when we tried contacting them about an item we left in lobby.

The staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful throughout our stay. Our room and bathroom were a great size, and having a balcony right on the beachfront was perfect. The onsite facilities — restaurant, bar, snacks and shop — were really convenient. We were on our honeymoon, so we chose to take Ubers to and from the airport (£75 on arrival, £45 on departure) for a relaxed start and end to our trip. The location is ideal if you want a peaceful stay, and if you want to explore further, hiring a car is definitely the best option.The hotel is walking distance to the beach (they provide beach towels) and to Whalers Village, which has lots of shops and restaurants. Breakfast was lovely every morning. During our stay, a hurricane and brush fire caused the entire West side of the island to lose electricity, WiFi and cell reception for over 30 hours. The hotel coped as best as they could — providing complimentary pastries for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch and burgers for dinner. They handed out glow sticks for light in the rooms and ran emergency power in reception and hallways so guests could charge devices. They even opened reception for games and support. Staff remained polite, friendly and calm throughout, and we appreciated the lovely leaving ceremony. They also refunded two days of breakfast due to the outage. In an event like this happening again, torches in the rooms would work better than glow sticks. A BBQ or paid food option (like another nearby hotel offered) would have helped keep guests fed. Communication around food times could have been clearer — staff didn’t always know what was happening, and announcements were sometimes delayed. For example, breakfast had finished when we went down at 9am, and the burger announcement came after serving had already started. Despite this, we understand the situation was caused by extreme weather, and the hotel did their best under very difficult circumstances. We will definitely return

room, location, and quality of service were all outstanding. We were a little disappointed with not having full daily housekeeping service but that was relatively minor. The Maui Brewing Co restaurant on the property was awful. They were rude and condescending, hard to believe it's affiliated in any way w the Outrigger, which was the total opposite experience, see above

Unfortunately, there was a power outage due to hurricane Nolo coming close to the island and there was no power in our rooms for more than 24 hours. The resort took care of its guests by providing breakfast, lunch and dinner free of charge as all restaurants and eating places were closed.

Shower wouldn’t turn off and only had hot water and burnt my daughter. Hotel staff sent up engineering who said “we are almost off shift, we will fix tomorrow.” Unreal!

Really great spot. Not luxury but definitely on the higher end. Depends on what you want.

We loved this resort! First time visiting Maui and had a blast. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. Given a chance to go back we would stay here every time! We also loved the fact it was close to everything we needed and even walking to Whalers Village

Got stuck in kaanapali due to fire/weather. Had to book a one night stay at Outrigger. This hotel is not prepared to care for guests during fires or weather events. The generators do not supply the rooms with power. We had no electricity or air conditioning. No WiFi or ability to communicate or receive information. Was charged a resort fee even though the only amenities was a roof over your head. $510 for the night with taxes plus a $50 resort fee did not even have hot water. When discussed issues with manager while checking out was told they are not responsible for weather. They are 100% responsible for how they care for guests during weather and do not have infrastructure in property to handle any event.

Nice, convenient and easily accessible to water tours

All restaurants on site close very early, with no other options. Room keys didn’t work most of the time and we kept having to get them changed.

Ate at Maui brewing co numerous times and enjoyed very much. Pool was great and always room to get a chair. Cost was high to rent lounge chairs and umbrella for the beach
