Disappointing
-
Great location, comfortable bed and city views on upper floors. The breakfast was awful in terms of options but mostly because the breakfast room was tiny and there were queues, especially for the coffee machines, of up to 20mins. Everything served on single use paper plates with plastic cutlery. Not good for the environment. No bacon on the first two mornings. Just really unpleasant trying to find a seat every day.
-
It was okay but not worth the money. The room was small no microwave and the only clean the room every other day. Initially when I made the reservation I thought the location would be convenient but it wasn't.
-
The hotel was located near my activities on the West side. It was easy to walk to restaurants. Hell's Kitchen has come a long way!!!!

Clean hotel, good breaksfast.

The location wasn't bad in hello kitchen, once you get your barrings you can make way to sub station on 50 th st in about 10 min or 42 street in about 15 min. Some minor up keep needs to be done. We had 2 twin beds and they were fine but our room was literally 10ft from lobby on first floor wich had advantages but in the morning you can hear everything in dining room as there was a 1 inch gap under the door to the floor.
-
Parking garage was blocks away and took a very long time to park and retrieve the car.
-
The staff were cheerful, kind and helpful but clearly needed reinforcements. Breakfast was good, Coffee machine great. Breakfast was PACKED, and the elevators were overburdened. The area under the front scaffolding appears to some locals to be an excellent place to smoke canibus.

The bathroom had mold. The room had a strange smell. The staff was ok but when it came to paying the assigned off site parking through the hotel I also had an issue. The guests main complaint was the elevator wait times.

Have stayed in many Holiday Inn's in Aus and NZ over the years and been very happy with the value offered - these all being practically identical to one another in rooms, breakfast and amenities. We assumed the same for Holiday Inn Express New York Manhattan West Side, however it's definitely not the same standard. Rooms are TINY and very dated. Doors slam. No soundproofing - can hear everyone in the hallway and sirens outside all night. Breakfast selection offered is limited and the eating area is way too small for the amount of people - couldn't get a seat half of the time. Not enough elevators - many times couldn't fit in and had to call another hoping no one else was in it. Slow check in. Fitness centre is just a few aerobic machines in a little room. Asked reception to book us a cab/taxi van for our trip leaving to the airport - the same type that we used coming from the airport at a $70 fixed fare - however they booked a private driver service at double the cost instead. When it turned up and I questioned them why, they said "Going to airport is different price than coming from it". I have learned this is a outright lie and cabs are also $70 fixed to the airport either direction, so I assume they are get a kick back from this private service. Only positive is location is good.
