Millennium Hotel Durham

Good

Location The first room i was assigned had a horrible musty smell. They did reassign me another room. I was ok with that one but the hotel/room is in need of updates repairs.

Better pillows would be a blessing.

Millennium is always a wonderful choice! We are in the area several times a year and they are always our first pick.

Rooms are old and rug needs replacing. Otherwise clean and friendly

I will stay here again. The entire four days that we were there the room was damp and musty. Even our clothes were damp from being in the room. When we arrived, there was only three pillows on the bed, one bath towel in the bathroom, a half a roll of toilet paper, and no blanket on the bed… Only had two sheets on the bed. The morning of checkout took forever because they had extra charges on our receipt. The front desk person was not able to correct them and I had to call back the next day to talk to the manager to get it all corrected. Overall was not impressed.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Millennium. The room and hotel were very clean, well-maintained, and comfortable, and we could locate handy parking at all times. We found the lobby, restaurant, bar, and grounds quite attractive. We didn't avail ourselves of the pool, but it looked clean and appealing. The bar was enjoyable, although the bartender loaded the drinks with so much ice they ended up -very- watered down, so we didn't order any beyond the first. Overall, the positives far outweighed the negatives, so we'd be happy to stay here again.

Everything Nothing

Not the one to ever write bad reviews but future guests should be warned! It was so dirty! The carpets in the hallway looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in years- stains, dirt and bleach stains. The hallways were covered in stains, marks. The elevator was so sketchy, dirty and so many smears on the walls. If it could get any worse our room smelled of cigarette smoke that the staff tried to cover up with heavy cleaning sprays. I was even told from a guest that they do not care if guests smoke in the rooms. The shower had black mold on the grout and the shower curtain had a cigarette burn hole. In the room the walls had marks and stains, the curtains were also covered in stains and cigarette burn holes. Even my friend who was also staying at the hotel, the only door for the bathroom was off the hinges and couldn’t be closed. Our kids were really excited about the pool. The pool itself seemed clean and was heated which was great. The hot-tub however was disgusting. The water was so dirty you couldn’t see the bottom, and the sides of the hot tub where the water meets the tile was brown from all the dirt/oil or whatever else was in there. Looked like It Hadn’t been cleaned in months!! I was nervous to eat the buffet because of how the hotel was taken care of. But I tried it anyways and I was surprised it wasn’t bad. I would never recommend this hotel and wish we would have canceled our stay

I had visited the Millennium Hotel Durham a few times over the years for various events, but I don't think I had ever been inside one of its hotel rooms until my recent trip to Durham. The room itself was quite nice, with a mini fridge and a decent bathroom suite that included a small dressing room with a space for hanging clothes and stowing luggage. The bathroom and dressing room are located near the room’s main door and can be closed off with a barn-style sliding door. This area did not have a fan. The main room had a sort of alcove with a desk that could be used for hair or makeup. The hotel has a fairly large pool and what I thought was a smaller hot tub. There is also a relatively small exercise room. The staff was friendly. However, after housekeeping's first visit, I was left with only a full-sized single towel, with no bathmat. Luckily, I noticed this before I needed to shower and was able to get a towel at the front desk. Unfortunately, I found upkeep of public spaces at Millennium Hotel Durham to be somewhat lacking. A number of carpets in the public areas and on the floors I visited were discolored by wear and tear and by spills. Ceiling tiles on the second floor outside the meeting rooms were also discolored.

Close proximity to NCCU

The location of the hotel is great, because it's close to Duke University. The room was large and clean. Service was overall good.
