I wanted to stay in a historical property centrally located. Cozy is more important than slick. The carpeting IS garish, but you can't ask for everything. Any sound from the bar was minimal. My room (306) could use a larger mirror. The shower was awesome.

We didn't stay as there was only 1 bed, not 2 as we had reserved.

I loved the old charm of the place but they need to treat for roaches.

Staff where nice but short

A lack of an extractor fan in the bathroom means a sweaty and slightly damp room, and the bar downstairs is noisy until midnight … not a problem if you are in the bar or out, but otherwise a bit annoying. 15 mins Uber from airport, and 5 mins walk to the cruise ships or capital building.

This hotel is very old, and it smells a little bit in the stairway - because it's old. The room was clean. The lighting wasn't very bright. The bathroom could use a little attention - the caulk around the sink was kind of gunky. But it is a very cool place with lots of character. Oh, and no elevator - but I knew that going in.

Fun place, right downtown, safe

Noise from bar was the worst in my travel experience. Saturday and Monday nights were so loud that things in my room rattled. There was a note to staff to control noise. I know it was possible because Sunday and Tuesday nights were acceptable. I will not stay there in future.

The decor, the location, and the staff were my favorite part. The art on the walls was way better than usual hotel art of like fruit and stuff which was a nice touch. The decor was all old style stuff which fit with the historic gold rush theme of the downtown area but it was tasteful and well maintained. The sink was also really deep which I know is an odd thing to care about but a lot of places don’t make their sinks deep enough for some reason. The location was also incredibly nice. It was right between several good bars and at least one dance club type establishment. The bar attached to the hotel so much fun! The bar tender made my drinks very well and the atmosphere was so fun. It was also down hill from them or on the same level so if you had a bit too many you won’t need to worry about walking up a hill to get back to bed. The staff were so helpful and let me put my bags there while I waited to check in and after I checked out. They also went above and beyond by letting me check in a little early. The toilet and shower being located outside the room in the hall was different than I’m used to but it wasn’t that big a deal. I had a similar set up in college and in some hostels in Europe. Everything was clean and I hardly ever needed it while someone else was using it.

I loved the vintage coffee bar and the feel of the whole place. I felt like I was in a 1930 movie. The walls are pretty thin, take the ear plugs at the front desk that are free!

It is located right in downtown and very convenient if you want to use local transport. We took the room with the kitchen which was really helpful as we could make our own coffee and breakfast. There is noise from downstairs bar on Saturdays but we were on the 3rd floor so could not hear much. The property itself is old but kept clean. Check in was smooth. Would highly recommend if you do not have a car otherwise you can find cheaper places to stay but they will be 35-40 mins from downtown. We loved it here and would definitely stay again the next time we come to Juneau.

Old establishment but staff was super helpful and location was excellent.

Location Too loud. Every night they have music in the bar it’s too loud to sleep, even with noise canceling headphones the bed and walls were still shaking to the beat of the bad karaoke blasting through the building.

Staff was great and kind. Room was clean and so was the shared bathroom. Would definitely stay there again.

Great place. Excellent location. Able to check in early. Very old building but well maintained. Be aware there are no elevators. Would definitely stay again.

The Alaskan Bar and Hotel offers a very clean and comfortable room. As a bonus, it has a genuine Frontier flavor to it; we wondered how many gold prospectors might have slept in our very room! You might hear a little live music coming from the bar, but it seemed to be turned off in plenty of time to get a good night's rest. The location is right amongst the shops, docks and restaurants if you're looking for a fully walkable location.

We thoroughly enjoyed the antique character of the hotel. Very charming. It ‘s location right in the center of everything was great. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Staff was helpful. Be prepared for stairs and sounds from festivities.
