nothing Absolutely Terrible Hotel — The Worst Experience of My Trip to Hawaii This was by far the worst hotel experience of my entire trip to Hawaii. In my opinion, this hotel is an embarrassment to Hawaii. I will never stay here again and will permanently blacklist this property. From the booking process to check-in, the stay itself, and the hotel facilities, every single part of the experience was terrible. After making my reservation, I contacted the hotel to request a cancellation and refund because my travel plans had changed. I sent multiple messages and emails, but no one ever responded. It felt like the hotel staff simply did not read or care about guest messages at all. I eventually asked Booking.com to help. Even when Booking.com contacted the hotel, the hotel still did not respond. With no other option, I changed my original multi-night reservation to just one night, and the change was confirmed on Booking.com. However, when I arrived to check in, the hotel staff told me that they had already cancelled my entire reservation. I showed them that the reservation was clearly confirmed on Booking.com, but they completely ignored this and refused to honor the reservation. They also had not issued any refund. I had no choice but to contact Booking.com again and ask them to intervene. Booking.com instructed the hotel that they were required to accommodate me, but the hotel still refused to cooperate. Eventually, Booking.com had to initiate a formal refusal-to-accommodate process with the hotel. Only then did the hotel staff suddenly say that everything was fine and that the reservation had been fixed. It appeared to me that they may have become concerned about potential consequences from Booking.com. By that point, however, I had already wasted more than an hour waiting at night, until after 10 p.m., just trying to get the hotel to honor a reservation that was already confirmed. And unfortunately, the problems did not end after check-in.

    Beautiful place

Most of the staff we encountered were unfriendly, dismissive, and at times simply rude. Whenever we brought up an inconvenience or problem, there seemed to be very little effort to actually resolve it. The restaurants on the property were another disappointment. The quality of the food was poor, the service was unfriendly, and the overall cleanliness left a lot to be desired. We also had concerns about the pool area. On several occasions, there appeared to be large groups of people using the pool who did not seem to be resort guests. It often felt more like a local gathering or party than a private resort pool. Regardless of who they were, there did not seem to be enough control over access to the pool area, which made us question the resort’s approach to guest security and comfort. The most frustrating issue came at checkout. Our final bill did not correctly reflect the discounts we were supposed to receive, and there were additional charges that were unclear to us. When we asked the staff to review and correct the bill, we were ultimately told that there was nothing they could do.

Older style, somewhat dated, but room we were in was renovated and large.we had a club room, very good value considering breakfast (small but enough choice) and pre-dinner snacks and drinks. All team members were very helpful Somewhat dated

I think or at least this Outrigger has recently been bought. I have stayed at both outriggers in Honolulu and those two properties had options to chose from and both were beautiful, this one not so much. The Big Island only had one option for dinner and opened up for a small breakfast unless you paid the VIP package which for us would have cost over $1000 since we stayed 10 days. They are working on another restaurant called Dukes but at the rate they are working on will be awhile but that is ready to use. The rooms are clean and nice. The outside looks patchy and needs refreshing.

This resort is like a labyrinth. There were bugs and cockroaches in the bed and bathroom. The room smelled musty.

I had a great room with a nice little couch and table and I feel it was a great value. There were many pools to swim in beautiful grounds to wander in, a nice little store to shop for groceries and souvenirs and breakfast offered delicious coffee and overnight oats from a super friendly server.

Facility is a bit outdated. Loved the power/heated toilet! Bathtub was significantly chipped and has seen better days. Room was good sized, bathroom was nice. In-room mini fridge and coffee service was a plus. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The 'adult' pool is in the middle of the buildings, which means it gets VERY limited sun. The 'everyone' pool is shallow--I don't think it got above 3.5 or 4 feet--and the water temp was in the 90s. The sandy zero-depth entry for the kids spread pebbles everywhere, not fund for us old folks who don't walk around outside that often with no shoes on, and especially not on rocks.

Amazing place the best pool in Kona

Great location. Be aware that Dukes has yet to open. Little movement in construction. Could use a bit more renovations. Consistency in service and more management and quality spotters walking around and checking on guest satisfaction. Customer service is spotty and inconsistent from one employee to another. The location is nice but overall 3.8 is the rating. They need to be honest about Dukes as it has been in progress for 2 years.

Everything was perfect! Staff was amazing!!!

Check-in was a little tricky because a huge tour bus got off right in front of us so that took probably 45 minutes. But the property was nice and we could see the luau from our room.

    Great

Room was advertised as recently renovated. Plaster was patched and unpainted - no hot water at certain times of the day, air conditioning noisy, no shower pressure - dirty balcony, amenities shop only accepted cash. On the positive side, the staff were great.

    Exceptional

I’ve stayed at numerous hotels throughout the Hawaiian islands and I think this is a great hotel for kids and adults. My two kids enjoyed the large pool with a direct view of the ocean and sunsets. The adult pool looked nice too. The hotel room was comfortable and large enough for 4 people. We definitely didn’t feel cramped like most hotels. The view from our ocean facing balcony was amazing and the night time sound of the waves was great. We saw dolphins splashing around in the morning and the manta ray boats in the evening. My only small issues were the pull out bed and our king bed was uncomfortable, lumpy soft, but we slept fine. The drinks at Piko were better than the pool bar. The lunch food was decent, but I did find some flaws that I’m sure most hawaiian restaurants face (bugs). The voyager breakfast was well worth it. In general the staff were very nice and welcoming. Parking valet was easy and quick. It’s a quick 15 min drive to Kona restaurant area. We would totally stay here again.
