This is a hidden gem. The oldest hotel in Kauai built in 1890. Moved to current location 1969. The location is hidden but very quiet. The rooms are huge and the cleanest of any hotel that I have ever stayed in near a beach. The included breakfast is continental but with most choices I ever had, including lots of fresh fruit, breads, rolls, and cereals. A selection of high in coffee. All in all a quite very desirable place to stay. PS: the hotel John Wayne and crew stayed in while filming Donovan’s Reef.

This property is older & historic. John Wayne shot a movie & stayed there. Who knew!!!! Rooms were small charming & quaint. Bed very comfortable! Great shower pressure too! Lovely Hawaiian music playing in the courtyard and bummed we had no time for the pool. And there were a few adorable cats, the roosters of course and a beautiful peacock greeted us am. I’d def stay here again 💕. Dana

We came just after the hurricane and the owner was so helpful as we had no power by cooking dinner for everyone on the first night and constantly making sure everyone’s phone was charged. Thank you so much!

We had a wonderful time! Our first trip to HI and we celebrated a 50th Birthday. We saw a tone of beautiful Gold Dust Day Geckos running about. The inn has got a historic vibe, our room was clean, quiet, and had a view of the ridge behind. The inn location is a quick 2 min drive through a port yard area to a shopping area with restaurants and other activities. We didnt use the amenities during our stay as we wanted to spend our time exploring the island, which the inn sits about half ways drive to each end of the highway. The Staff are great and very helpful, great spot if your not looking for all the crowded hotel tourists gathered in one resort.

This was a wonderful experience for my wife and I. It is located at the midway point of the island so you can get anywhere you need pretty quickly. The rooms were cozy and the staff were very helpful and caring. The cats, peacocks, and chickens added to the island vibe. The rates were very fair for the immense value we received!

The location was perfect and close to everything we wanted to see and do. Most importantly, the staff were absolutely wonderful and made us feel so welcomed. We unexpectedly had to extend our stay by two nights because of the hurricane, and Phil went above and beyond to help us and accommodate the changes. We’re so grateful for his kindness and hospitality during an already stressful situation. Thank you, Kauaʻi Inn, for making our stay so special. 🌺 We would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a genuine, welcoming, and historic Kauaʻi experience!

Terrible place. Avoid. Nothing like the photos advertised. When I saw the conditions of the room, I requested a refund and the manager wouldn’t budge for any sort of compensation. Worst experience ever.

Glad they had ac. Free beach supplies, chairs/snorkel stuff was really nice. Pool was smaller than expected. Bed was nice. Shower was a little gross.

Great place close to Lihue and free parking is a great perk. Staff were courteous and the complimentary breakfast helped us start the day right!

Our overall experience was awesome. Very peaceful and inviting. If there are two things to point out that can improve the overall experience it is the HVAC system and the washer and dryer amenities. It is my belief if those were updated this would definitely be an ideal stay each and every time. Other than that it was a five star experience

Rooms are back to the 80s in need of major upgrades. Pictures are nothing of what you really stay in. Rooms are dim and dingy, 80s carpet. Beds massive divets. Bathroom old, shower very old, bathroom mirror you can barely see yourself cause its super old and damaged. Room lighting is horrible. Staff are not lovals, they are from a European country and have the worst personality and service ever. No elevator, this is basically low income housing apartments that is now a "hotel". Pool is 3 foot deep in its entirety. Breakfast is cereal, yogurt, coffee. Tea, 2 fruits, muffins and bagels. It's an outdoor pavilion style breakfast. Homeless people park and live right behind at the park. Basically its a place that youll worry about what youll bring home with you in your suitcase
