Portola Hotel & Spa at Monterey Bay

We stayed 2 nights and our room was not serviced once while we were there. Breakfast was amazing!!

A bit more work/conference orientation than we were expecting.

It was excellent and I rate it 4.5 out of 5

Had no idea that the property is connected to the convention center. It was absolute chaos. So many people, so loud. Parking lot was a nightmare. The property is huge. Took us a very long to find our room. The water out of the facet was brown. The beds were not comfortable. Definitely a disappointment for a romantic birthday getaway.

Room was beautiful, location AWESOME 👌 and food at the restaurant was delicious!

Have stayed at Portola for years. First stays were for business conferences but it is now our go to for personal / vacation stays in Monterey. They check all of the boxes. The staff is exceptional in every function.

Portola is always the first choice to stay when I’m in Monterey. They have lovely ambience and the rooms are clean and staff is always nice. Also, they are so close to all the attractions.

It’s hard to know what to expect when you’ve never been to the town before. This is a great place for location. I wanted to check in quick and stretch my legs walking along the ocean. That happened. A few unhomed folks along the way. If you want valet, help with your bags, friendly but not BFF staff. Reliable everything this is your spot. There was a big conference happening while I was there and I didn’t feel any impact. All conference goers seemed happy and healthy. If you want unique, cozy, work a little harder to prove your travel chops, look at other options.

The Portola Hotel and Spa Monterey Bay is a beautiful hotel. And they accomodated our pet with ease, offering a bed, bowls, and cookie upon arrival. Their pet fee was by far the best in the area. Extremely clean rooms with slider doors to a balcony to let the fresh sea air in. They have an elegant bar with a roaring fire which was a welcomed relaxiation spot after a long day. 10/10 recommend.

Clean, great location.

The hotel is well maintained with a pleasant and helpful staff. The bar was great as well as the bartenders. While we didn't do evening dining or lunch at the hotel restaurant we did enjoy our breakfasts there. The wait staff was very attentive and had a right at your service work ethic. Pool and hot tub was clean and pleasant with towels provided at the facility. Close location to the wharf and Cannery Row, both within easy walking, is a major plus. We would definitely stay again should we once more travel to Monterey.

Superb

One night stay. Driving through. I chose this hotel for the location and that they offer EV chargers. The hotel needs some TLC. FYI-There isn’t any room service. Which was a bummer after a day of driving. The worst part was there were ants in my bed. They comp’d my dinner and parking. But honestly they should have comp’d my stay. If it was just a few ants I would have not said anything. Things happen. But it was continuous. Many ants.
