Location is perfect, and staff is great.

We stayed at the Hilton Garden in Porsmouth on numerous occasions and always without a problem. This time it was different. The air conditioning fan in our room was so noisy that we had to ask for a room change. The second room did not have the same problem but the sliding door in the shower kept on opening spontaneously every 30 seconds or so. I ended up washing my hair with one hand while keeping the shower door closed with the other. Otherwise there were no problems with our stay. The staff was friendly and the our room appeared to be recently refurbished. The location of the property is perfect.

A woman named Terri that worked at the bar, helped greatly and also helped two other consumers

Location. Weird staff. Had us check in very oddly

Ice cold showers all 3 days, regardless of letting management know…$50 nightly valet, No cast TV, only basic câble. Carpet and shower were filthy, bedspread was old and rough feeling. Breakfast reminded me of 1970’s school lunch…never again. Ever.

* Despite Expedia advertising the King suite as having a room safe, it did not. The receptionist confirmed that all room safes had been removed at time of renovation, however, there was a safe at reception. This had not been pointed out when checking in & we only found out when checking out. * The water temperature for the shower was lukewarm (at least to our liking) at best. * A small point but, the room cost over $500 a night and yet there were only paper cups/tumblers offered in the room itself. A bit “motel” rather than “hotel”? * Our main grievance, however, was the constant noise in the room emanating from a vent in the bathroom. It was so loud that it kept waking us up through the night despite the AC being switched off completely and the bathroom doors shut fast. Another (in our opinion) “petty motel” like point….. we were charged $29 for an early check in (we had little choice in that but admittedly it was 11.30am). We are Honors members (use Hilton a lot) and the room was obviously ready for use, so having taken an additional $45 dollars for valet parking, why squeeze that couple of extra dollars out of us to check in early?

We’ve stayed here a number of times and it’s always a pleasure. The rooms are clean, the location is perfect and the staff is always friendly. We do try to book during less busy times though because rates can fluctuate greatly.

Staff members were excellent The shower was weak

Pretty standard hotel stay. Really you are paying for the location, right downtown Portsmouth. Very expensive in my opinion but nothing fancy. Whatever your bill is add $100 for valet and incidentals. For $400 - $500 a night I expect parking, room service, and free breakfast included. Staff was super helpful and friendly with good customer service though.
