Frequently asked questions
What should I look for in a hotel for my wedding reception in Columbus?
A strong wedding hotel offers ample reception and banquet space, on-site guest rooms for out-of-town family and friends, and facilities like getting-ready suites (though amenities vary by property). The Hilton Columbus Downtown, for example, offers about 75,000 square feet of event space across 40 event rooms, while the Hilton Columbus at Easton provides about 40,000 square feet. These hotels combine event facilities with guest accommodations under one roof, which simplifies logistics for your big day.
How does Engine help with booking rooms and event space for a wedding?
For a block of 9 or more guest rooms, Engine Groups handles the booking. For 8 rooms or fewer, you can book self-serve on Engine. The hotel's reception and event space can be searched and booked through Engine Spaces, Engine's free marketplace of hotel meeting and event spaces across the U.S. and Canada, or you can arrange it with the hotel directly.
How far ahead should I book a room block for my Columbus wedding?
Most couples reserve a room block six to twelve months before the wedding date, especially for popular weekends or peak season. Booking early gives your out-of-town guests time to plan and ensures availability at the hotels on your list. If your wedding falls during a busy period in Columbus, consider reaching out even earlier.
How does billing work when I book a room block through Engine?
Engine offers consolidated invoicing and multiple payment options, so you can manage the block without juggling separate transactions. There's no membership fee to use the platform. This streamlined approach makes it easier to track costs and coordinate payment for your guests' accommodations.
Should I choose a hotel near my ceremony venue or closer to the airport?
If most of your guests are flying in, a hotel near the airport serving Columbus can simplify their arrival and departure. If your ceremony and reception are at the same property or nearby, prioritize convenience for the wedding party and family who'll need easy access throughout the day. Many couples weigh both factors and choose a central location that works for the majority of their guests.
