Frequently asked questions

Which cities in Minnesota have the most wedding hotels?

Minneapolis offers the largest concentration of properties with dedicated event space you can book through Engine. The Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel, The Depot features about 32,000 square feet in its Historic Shed Outdoor Pavilion and 21 event spaces. The Hilton Minneapolis offers the Minneapolis Ballroom at about 25,000 square feet and 71 event spaces, while Grand Casino Hinckley in Hinckley provides a Grand Ballroom of about 22,000 square feet.

What should I look for in a hotel for my reception and guest rooms?

A property that works well for both your ceremony or reception and overnight guests will have banquet space large enough for your headcount, plus enough guest rooms to accommodate out-of-town family and friends. Getting-ready suites, on-site catering, and event coordination vary by property, so confirm those details with the hotel directly. The hotels on this list range from 335 to 821 guest rooms and offer event spaces that can seat hundreds or even thousands of guests.

How far in advance should I book a room block for wedding guests?

Six to nine months ahead of your date gives guests time to make travel plans and helps you lock in pre-negotiated rates. If you need a block of 9 or more rooms, Engine Groups handles the booking. For 8 rooms or fewer, you can book self-serve on Engine.

What should I compare when choosing where to put guests across different Minnesota cities?

Start with proximity to your venue if the ceremony and reception are held elsewhere, or confirm the hotel's own event space can host your headcount. Compare room rates, the number of available rooms on your dates, and whether the property offers shuttle service to your ceremony or reception site. Engine lets you search and compare these hotels side by side, and the event space at each property can be booked through Engine Spaces or arranged with the hotel directly.

What amenities can wedding guests expect at these properties?

Most hotels offer complimentary wifi, on-site parking (sometimes for a fee), and restaurants or room service for convenience. Shuttle service to the airport or your venue, fitness centers, and pools vary by property. Check each hotel's listing on Engine to confirm which amenities are included.

Why don't you show rates for these hotels?

Hotels give Engine rates they only allow us to show business travelers, so a public page cannot list them. Create a free account with your work email to see them.

Is Engine free?

Yes. An Engine account is 100% free and without commitment, and you can leave anytime. Sign up with your work email.
