Same order as the list above: ranked by a hotel's total event space across all its meeting rooms. The largest single room is shown here, so that column can run out of order. Space figures come from each hotel's meeting-space records. A dash means the hotel's data doesn't list that detail, not that it's unavailable.

Frequently asked questions

Which parts of California have the most conference-ready hotels?

Southern California offers some of the state's largest conference properties, including the Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center in Chula Vista and the Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, both with extensive event space and guest-room capacity. The Bay Area also features conference-capable hotels like the Oakland Marriott City Center, with its largest event space running about 52,000 square feet and 500 guest rooms. These regions serve planners looking for properties that can handle large gatherings and multi-day events.

How far ahead should I book hotel rooms for a large meeting in California?

For conferences requiring room blocks, booking three to six months out is typical, though lead times vary by property and season. Popular destinations and peak travel periods fill faster, so securing rooms early gives you better availability and pricing. Engine lets you search and compare options across California to find properties that fit your timeline.

How does Engine help when I need both guest rooms and event space?

Engine handles both parts of your planning. For the guest-room block, stays of 9 or more rooms go through Engine Groups, while 8 or fewer rooms are booked self-serve on the platform. For the meeting or event space itself, you can find and request venues through Engine Spaces, which connects planners to meeting and event venues across California and beyond.

How does billing work when I book a room block for a conference?

Engine offers consolidated invoicing, so you receive one clear statement instead of juggling multiple transactions. You also get access to pre-negotiated rates, multiple payment options, and no membership fee. This simplifies the financial side when you're coordinating rooms for a large group.

What should I look for in a hotel for a big corporate event?

Start with meeting space that fits your headcount and format. The Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, for example, offers a largest event space of about 70,000 square feet and capacity for up to 1,620 people, along with 757 guest rooms and 94 event spaces total. A solid guest-room count and on-site amenities also matter when attendees are staying overnight or traveling from out of town.

Why don't you show rates for these hotels?

Hotels give Engine rates they only allow us to show business travelers, so a public page cannot list them. Create a free account with your work email to see them.

Is Engine free?

Yes. An Engine account is 100% free and without commitment, and you can leave anytime. Sign up with your work email.
